We are so thrilled to have you after we released our Beatitudes episode.

There was great chat going on in our substack chat, and you shared some thoughts that I just loved,

and I thought immediately, I want either a voicemail or to have Lisa come on and talk about

this and we were lucky enough to actually get you so thank you for agreeing to come on and

chat with us oh thanks for the invite so will you read the Greg Boyle quote yes

scripture scholars contend that the original language of the beatitudes should not be

rendered as, blessed are the single-hearted, or blessed are the peacemakers, or blessed are those

who struggle for justice. Greater precision in translation would say, you're in the right place if you are single-hearted or work for peace.

The Beatitudes is not a spirituality after all. It's a geography. It tells us where to stand.

So tell us a little bit about some of what our Beatitudes episode had you thinking about.

Well, once I read that quote from Father Greg Boyle, you know, it really struck a chord with me

because I've seen this sort of geography and practice with living, trying to, you know, aspire to what

Jesus was teaching. Our daughter, Eleanor has Down syndrome.

And so as I've watched her life growing up and watched the people who would, sometimes people with the

best intentions, you know, they show up and they want to serve her.

But some people show up and they just think she's interesting or they think she's funny or they just

would like to be friends with her and they spend time with her. And there's a real difference.

And, you know, she currently has a yoga class she goes to. And it's called restorative yoga.

She chose it four or five years ago. and she's become quite good friends with the women
