We talked about it yesterday as a possibility, and now it is an actuality.

Georgia is losing its outside linebackers coach. Chidara Yuzo Derribe, as first reported by various

outlets, I guess close to the Cowboys, also Football Scoop had this, interviewed on Tuesday

with the Dallas Cowboys, and a few hours after the interview,

he has been hired, Uzo Deribay at Georgia since 2022, moving on to the NFL.

Now, let me start by saying that for the most part, this is how I think college football is

supposed to work.

I think head coaches seek continuity when it comes to their coordinator positions. And if you can hold on to guys for a while, that gives you a chance to have a lot of success.

But I don't think it's reasonable to assume you can have a great deal of continuity with your position coaches.

At that level, your on-field guys, often young, usually ambitious, hard driving.

I think in this particular case, their ambition is more important than their loyalty.

You bring him in.

They, I think, assume that they're here on the short-term basis.

They're trying to learn as much as they can.

They have their eyes set on other jobs.

For instance, when Fran Brown came here as cornerbacks coach a couple of years ago,

he made it pretty clear from the word ago that he wanted to be a head coach. And if he had a chance to be a head coach, that's what he was going to go do. And well, that's exactly what happened. He was at Syracuse not too long after being hired at Georgia. Everybody's got the next job they're hoping for. apparently in the case of Chedaro Uzo Deribay, the NFL is where he wanted to go.
