Relevance is Georgia Tech's unrequited lover. There was a brief flirtation with it here this year,

but after a loss to pit on Saturday, any faint hopes that Georgia Tech might have had of making the college football

playoff have now disappeared once again. And it seems like for what is like the millionth year in a row,

Georgia will play Georgia Tech this Friday with Georgia having much higher stakes in the game than

Georgia Tech does. Georgia Tech seemingly once again is relegated to the role of spoiler in this

particular game. And for some Georgia fans that makes you a little nervous,

a little concerned, because you always feel like going into a rivalry game. And listen,

for those of us who've been around for a while, we've been told over and over again that in a

rivalry game, you throw the records out the window. You've heard that a lot. It's obvious cliche.

I don't know in most rivalries,

if that's as true as maybe you think it is in this game in particular. It seems like the better

team usually wins. There are some, certainly last year, one of the wildest games we've seen,

games in which tech plays it closer than the experts think it's going to. But for the most part,

I'm not quite so sure how much you really do throw the records out

the window when it comes to Georgia playing Georgia Tech.

Just don't know that's necessarily the case all that much.

But it is one of those things of, and I've heard this a lot already this weekend.
