I am very suspicious of people when they say they have preferences because I feel like they often haven't interrogated what is motivating their preferences. And I have had enough experiences in my life where, let's say I'm going out with a short, light skin man. Suddenly after we break up, everywhere I look is short light skin men that I'm attracted to. Then I go out with a man that looks different. And everywhere I look, after we break up, I'm attracted to the men that look like him.

And my experiences, having proximity with people, informs who I'm attracted to going forward.

And when people are only dating one kind of person or specifically not dating people from their own racial group,

it's hard for me to take that as like a neutral, unless you're living in Sweden and only dating Swedish women because there's only Swedish women around, it's hard for me not to see that choices are being

made and to ask about the politics that are underlying those choices.

Let me jump in real quick because I think we're all affected. Even the comment that Jason just said

about Chadwick Bolson playing Thurgood Marshall retreats back to my thing about black man,

light skin, black man and colorism.

Yes, it's a real thing.

But the realer thing is the erasure of dark-skinned black women from mainstream media,

which I guess I didn't know this until now mimics the erasure of Jewish women from mainstream media.

Whenever they're not playing, I guess, Jewish, whenever

they're playing the wife of a Jewish man.

I should note that everyone else in the movie, like, who wasn't the pretty mom character,

like the crotchety grandmother who was stern and mean, everyone who was like stereotyped, like

older, like everything, but he was more stereotypically Jewish and not supposed to be an attractive symbol in the movie was definitely played by Jewish actors.

Yeah. We're talking about white supremacy. We're talking about white supremacy. We're talking about how our media is designed both from the top down but also being reflected through society's norms to uphold white supremacy.

So it makes sense that a lot of black folks don't notice that they have to write a joke in

about Lauren London being much lighter than both her parents.

Yeah, because your granddaddy was half white and it's that white man's blood that caught through you.

Yeah, yeah.

You know, and so it makes sense on a lot of levels and you can't act like, now I want to be clear.
