Hello, and welcome to the NautCast podcast, the one true chapter-by-chapter podcast going through a song of ice and fire.

I'm one of your hosts, Emmett, also known as Poor Quentin.

0:31.8

And I'm your other host, Manu, also known as Manucleur Bomb.

And welcome to the 247th episode of the Nauticast, titled Big Brother,

0:42.5

an analysis of the Iron Captain in a Feast for Crows,

0:46.0

in which I somehow have to talk about the introduction of Uron

0:49.7

and the reintroduction of Victorian in one episode.

0:54.0

Pray for me. Pray to the drown God, pray to whatever God that you're on dismisses that you believe in. Just pray for me. Emmett initially wanted to do a 10-part episode on this and the next chapter, but I had to talk him down to just the two. You had to put your foot down, and rightly so. So our spoiler warning is, as always, prepared to be spoiled for all five, A Song of Ice and

Fire novels, the three Duncan Egg novellas, any histories, any interviews, any Wins of Winter

sample chapters, as well as Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon, the TV shows.

Anything and everything.

1:38.7

season of House of the Dragon. Like Damon before her, Circe learns that if you offer gold for

1:43.4

heads, people will bring you heads.

1:45.7

And the kind of people who will bring heads for gold aren't going to be too fussy about who the heads belong to.

1:51.5

Which, yeah, I like that theme in common of violence spinning out of control,

1:55.9

kind of once you crack open the door to it and not being able to always monitor what people do with the

2:01.7

unleashing of their permission to kill. As I said in our recent episode for patrons

Beyond Theory Dome Part 2, which our patrons can check out at patreon.com slash not a cast ASO, IAF.

So if so, that kind of would be the payoff to Circe, unleashing violence that she can't control, which I think, yeah, I think that lines up very well with what we see of the Targaryens and House of the Dragon. Yeah, absolutely. And there's also a bit where a bounty like this or a blood price or what everyone would call it, it becomes almost a pretext for violence, regardless if it's aimed at the, you know,
