Hey, guys. I've been having this ongoing conversation with another English teacher. She's my friend.

I asked her the question, do you think that Nathaniel Hawthorne would be a hipster if he lived now?

And so we got in this whole conversation about whether Nathaniel Hawthorne would be a hipster or an emo or kind of a mixture of the two.

And so that's what I did the conversation about, well, with Walt Whitman, I felt like he would be a hipster.

And she was like, I don't know. And I said, well, with that hair and that beard, like, yeah, he's got to be a hipster.

And I said, well, maybe he'd be more of like a granoli kind of hipster. But like, where would Faulkner end up?

Would he be grungy? Would Emily Dickinson be like just a soccer mom who writes really, you know, dark poetry?

I don't know.
