We're your prom committee co-chairs, Dabir Akhtar, and Amadali Akbar. We worked really hard to make the

stude a beautiful place tonight so that you can have a wonderful night. We're wearing our prom finest

today. Emmett is wearing a jean jacket with a corsage.

I look like the villain from an 80s movie if I was white, an 80s teen movie, but I'm a brown guy, so I would just be in the background.

And you're wearing your prom dress.

I'm wearing my actual prom dress.

We're going to be talking about what it's like to be Muslim and to go to prom.

Fidressing it with your parents, whether you take a date or no date,

and maybe like how to halalify your dress so that your parents will actually let you go.

If you see something, you better, you better say something. Nothing at all. Nothing at all.

We're going to talk to Nabi Haasiyid, who's our fashion expert and basically an expert in everything,

and you want to hear her thoughts about what's hot and not for prom.

And we're going to talk to some teens, a notion in Rahat, about what it feels like right now

when you can or can't go to prom and you have to negotiate that.

But first, we're going to listen to some prom stories that you guys send in.

So I feel like prom movies are this big thing that I was raised with in high school, and they set up some really strange expectations.

I thought this was a party! Let's dance!

I feel like every prom movie makes you think that if you are a virgin and haven't drunk yet,

by the end of the night, you're having sex and you're drinking.

Like, that's a necessary element of prom.
