I've actually been wanting to have Jake on the show ever since he finished as the top American at the Chicago marathon

this past fall and

We were in talks after the race and kind of dropped the ball on that a little bit

So it's really exciting to be able to talk with him after his second place finish at the trials

Jake debuted the marathon in 213 16 in Chicago in 2014 and he finished 15th in the 2016 Olympic marathon trials

He struggled with Achilles issues for years and finally underwent surgery in 2018 and has been

Rebuilding study since that surgery when he came back this past fall to finish as the top American in Chicago and

9th place overall in a time of 210

36 he knew he was in a good spot to potentially make the Olympic team which he just did

Jake is a Stanford alumni and he's coached by Lee Troop and runs with the Boulder track club
