The stillness of the hot June morning in Baberton, Ohio,

was broken by the creaking of floorboards beneath the small feet of a six-year-old girl.

As she searched the home she was in, the brutality of the previous night revealed itself to her. Just hours earlier, she had been

laughing with her beloved grandmother, and now she lay dead at her feet. Someone had slipped in their
