There is clearly a mood in the air right now around Dog Nation. It is not necessarily all that positive.

A lot of folks have what seemed to be some very serious questions about Georgia ahead of the game against Texas there on Saturday.

And I think that you know me well enough, if you've been with us for a while while to know that based on the conversations we ourselves have been having, we don't think these questions are necessarily unwarranted.

There is room for skepticism and even maybe doubt about how George is playing right now compared to the expectation to begin the season where Georgia was the

preseason number one.

Thus far this year, Georgia really hasn't looked a lot yet like a number one type team.

What our typical expectation for Georgia as a number one team or a college football team

at large kind of as a number one team, Georgia hasn't quite looked like that as of yet.

Now, here is what we don't know.

What we don't know is if this is because Georgia has regressed,

there's a chance that's true.

Or if Georgia's seeming dip is about a larger story in the sport overall, where, as Kirby Smart has warned, over and over again, the talent levels, the overall depth program to program is not what it once was.

Your backups are now getting an NIL deal to start for some other program perhaps, and all of a sudden you're not

quite leaning on the same roster strength you once would have had. So we don't quite yet know

if the reduced performance from Georgia is about an individual regression with this program

we all care about, or if it's the sign of a larger transformation for college football,

where what we define as excellent or perhaps elite in a given year, is not quite as

dominant as it once was.

We're about to find out in the weeks to come.

And for Georgia, one of those big tests is on tap for Saturday as it gets ready to play against Texas.
