Well, you know, it's, I always imagine that if you're, you know, fan or but you a Celtics fan which is maybe the only thing worse than a Lakers

It must be tiring to win

Celtics might go all the way this year was at 18 and do you even feel anything anymore at that point?

Well, I don't think it's going to happen is the short answer.

But anyway, for those who missed an episode or two, this is part of our new format, once per calendar month, I'll be hosting one of the free weekly episodes with a guest, and once per calendar month, Katie will be doing the same.

So Emmett is a writer, formerly of Vox and the Iowa Writers

Workshop. He recently released his first book The Complications on Going and

Sand in America, and in addition to just being a fantastic read I would really recommend to anyone.

It covers a lot of the themes that have come up on this show repeatedly.

So Emmett and I will be discussing that for the first part of the show and then during the last part I'd like to also discuss an essay he wrote for Vox called the Smug style of American liberalism. This was back in 2016 not long before Donald Trump was

elected which I'm sure was a completely unrelated event. So yeah I mean

Emmett your book is a memoir that is in part about how you found out you were insane.

That's the language you use and your attempts to lead something of a normal life despite this.

What's your current diagnosis and how are you handling things?
