So the other day I was on with my friends Andy and Randy, 92-9 in the game.

I make an appearance with their show every

Tuesday afternoon. I always enjoy that. Great guys. And Andy, I believe it was Andy, asked me a question

that I thought was really interesting and it was probably worth having a conversation here a little

bit about there as well. What Andy said is with Nick Saban stepping down and retiring, with the, at the time,

uncertain future of Jim Harbaugh

and total confession here we're pre-recording this show you know that so if Harbaugh has taken an

NFL job we don't know at least I don't know that at the time of recording but the point is

it seems like Harbaugh could be on his way there we definitely know that Nick Saban is retiring

and so therefore if you think about Kirby Smart as

college football's top coach, we have, who is the closest to being where Smart has been? And I would

say at first blush, what's interesting about this is, is that the category of other top coaches

seems to be about as, I don't want to say barren necessarily, but it's

certainly a shorter list of truly proven elite coaches than it's perhaps been before.

Now, resume-wise, Dabo Swinney has a resume that would make him one of the best coaches in

recent college football memory, a couple of national championships, a relative fixture in the college football playoffs for a good number of

years. But in terms of where he ranks right now, would you want this guy coaching your team?
