Summary

This is a special show that takes in the Corona Virus and its implications for hikers, as well as a father and son pair of pastors preparing to hike the Appalachian Trail.

First, we have Aaron and BG Turner, two men ready for the adventure of their life, yet torn with doubt over the advisability of the hike. This situation is changing so quickly that I thought it was important to not only hear from Aaron and BG, but it was also important to get an expert on the show to help us in our deliberations regarding this outbreak.

Heather "Brave" Sloan is a public health educator and gives us up-to-the-minute advice on what we should be considering. She may well be needed on the show in a week or so for further updates.

0:44.2	It's been quite a week and I wasn't too sure that I'd actually be able to put a show together today.

0:52.5	To show you how fast things are moving, I recorded my kind of joint
0:56.4	main guests this week as long ago as Monday the 16th of March. They are Aaron Turner and his dad,
1:03.2	B.G. Aaron's wife, Trisha, had written to me about a husband's plan to hike the 80 this year
1:08.9	with his dad. Both men are pastors and I thought
1:11.7	it would make an interesting tale as they prepared in what looked to be like a mounting storm.
1:16.6	Of course, on Tuesday the day after, the Appalachian Trial Conservancy put out an advisory to all
1:21.9	hikers to not go through with either their through hikes or their section hikes.
1:26.4	I'd already arranged to have a conversation
1:28.2	with my second main guest of the week, Heather Sloan, otherwise known as brave to the hiking community.
1:34.0	Heather is in the public health field as an educator and I wanted her to come on this show and
1:38.6	answer my dumb questions in the hope that a hiker talking about public health may make other hikers
1:44.0	take some notice.
1:45.6	Heather isn't being prescriptive here, but she will certainly leave you with a clear impression
