Hi everybody and thanks for coming back again to Mighty Blue on the Appalachian Trail,

the ultimate midlife crisis.

This is a somewhat literary edition with our main guest Paul Stutzman, the writer of our recent book, Hiking Through.

Paul has been very accommodating to me, letting me interview him and talking to the Florida

Appalachian Trail Club last month.

We also went out to dinner one evening and I'd like to think of him as a friend.

I hope he feels the same.

I know that Paul's experience on the AT really resonated with many of you.

And we talked about that and his other hikes since then.

Also this week, Kate Stilwell is a woman of a certain age.

And we chat about her preparation for her upcoming flip-flop, now less than three weeks away. As always, Kate will be on

after Paul. Finally, and we're back to the literary side again, Ben Montgomery's visceral story

of Grandma Gatewood's walk. She really had it tough when she was younger,

so I could see how she was able to take on the trail.
