I'm so glad to be joined back on Bad Faced podcast by Ross Barcan, who of course you know

his substack, but he is also now a staff writer at New York Magazine.

I'm excited to be back and then talk all the fun stuff going on politics right now.

All right, Ross.

Nobody that I know is covering what's happening in New York the way that you are, especially

with insight into what's going on for the left and with the implications are for the left.

People who might have been following this, even though we haven't really talked about

it much on Bad Faced podcast, know that there was a pretty significant shake up with respect

to redistricting in New York this year, which put some progressive seeds at Jeopardy Enforce

some interesting tee-offs this election season.

Of course, the primaries were last night.

We have the results and now as you're recording Wednesday morning.

So first can you start us off by letting us know what happened with the redistricting

and how did it affect Mondair Jones and some of these progressives in the race?

So the redistricting saga in New York was really fascinating and chaotic.

What happened was Democrats who now control the state legislature in New York fully.

And this was actually they did do this until 2019 for a host of reasons.

So for the first time in more than a half century, Democrats control the redistricting process

into New York entirely.
