A lot of the public debate in Europe is dedicated to the twin transitions, greening and digitalization of the economy and society.

And one theme that comes up again and again is that these transitions should be just and inclusive.

Greening is to a large extent based on producing clean energy, and just and inclusive should certainly reflect gender equality.

Now, this seems to be a very tricky combination. On the one hand, substituting clean energy

production for what is now known as the Brown sector, while on the other, at the same time,

encouraging more women to join the new

business. Gender balance horizontally across the sector on all levels of employment and seniority

is the ultimate target, but there are a lot of steps needed that could take us there,

like helping women, alongside men, through vocational education

and training, to develop the new skills needed, which is a European Union policy goal highlighted

among others by the European Year of Skills, which is underway. To talk about an array of

issues relating to the role of women in the green energy sector,
