across a quote that I really liked from Jay Eng and he says this quote, the quickest way to kill

something amazing is to compare it to something else. What once felt exciting, meaningful, and full of

potential suddenly feels small.

Not because it changed, but because you looked sideways.

Someone will always be further ahead, moving faster, making more.

But their path isn't yours.

Their timeline isn't yours.

Everyone is on a different journey, moving at a different pace, toward a different destination.

The sooner you accept that, the sooner you can focus on your own, close quote.

This reminds me of a conversation.

The reason I like this is because it reminds me of a conversation I was having with a player recently and he was focused on other people's journeys.

It's easy to get caught up and look at how fast other people are moving along.

They're hitting mile markers and milestones rather that, in his case, that were

faster than him, at an age younger than him. He began to run into comparison and it was hindering

his perspective. And the two principles we ended up landing on in this conversation were two simple

principles, but powerful and impactful. It's number one, run your own race and number two,

turn off the shot clock. Run your own race and turn off the shot clock. Running your own race,

meaning just focus on your own path. It's not a race.

It's not, yes, there's competition, but at the end of the day, we're all on our own journeys.

And what I mean by turn off the shot clock is in basketball, there's a shot clock.

You have a certain amount of time to shoot the ball.
