Have you ever noticed that there are just some coaching staffs that click?

They just operate on all cylinders. Communication is seamless. The culture is strong.

And they just set really good examples for the players. And then you have other

coaching staffs where they struggle. They are not synced up. Doesn't seem like they connect very

well. Doesn't seem like they communicate really well and they're frustrated. And one of the

things that we know about these high level coaching staffs is that it's not luck.

It's not by accident.

It's not talent necessarily.

But it's intention.

They do doing things on purpose with purpose.

And building this kind of coaching staff, you need to build it deliberately and strategically,

Recently, I've been reading Eduardo Salas' research on team effectiveness, and he studies what

separates high-performing teams from dysfunctional ones.

And I liked what he says about the ABCs of teamwork. And he says that every

elite team, and in this case we're talking coaching staff, they follow the ABC. So A stands for

attitudes. What do your staffs add? What do the attitudes of the members of your staff say about your program the players

will take on the identity of the coaches and if the staff carries themselves with confidence

and accountability and team first mentality players will be more likely to do so as well but if they

walk around negative and complaining and making excuses, then they set that example as well.
