2005. I was watching an interview by Steph Curry and Gilbert Arenas. And Steph was talking about

making the jump from college to the NBA. And he said something very notable that I wanted to share

with you. He talked about realizing how hard he had

to work in order to be great. And what his understanding of that looked like was different than

what it actually is. It wasn't until he started working out with different guys in the NBA when he realized.

He said it. He realized that, oh, this is what hard work looks like. This is how tired I should be

at the end of practice. This is the amount of effort and intensity I need to be putting forth.

What was interesting to me is that he thought he was working hard in college.

He believed that he was given his best effort until he came in contact with people who took him to the next level.

He realized that there was a gap between where he was and where he needed to be.

And I think the same holds true with each one of us.

We might be telling our stories that we are working hard.

We are giving our best.

But then you come in contact with people who can take you to the next level, whether by

their encouragement and their mentorship or you just work alongside them and you realize that

you're not even close to working and training

at the same level that they're at.

And so my invitation to you is to take a look in the mirror and see if you have more to give

and see if there are people who you can surround yourself with who can take you to the next level.
