Good morning and welcome to the Increase Your Impact podcast. I'm Justin Sua, episode 2038. Today I want to share with you 10 principles on how to communicate more effectively as a leader. These are by Chad Pinckney. 10 things that you can do to communicate more effectively as a leader. I want you to listen for which one resonates with you the most,

the one that you think you need to implement immediately. Number one, slow down to communicate

completely and accurately. Number two, confirm your understanding by repeating back what you

think you hear. Three, remember, people are wired differently than you.

So adjust to their style rather than making them come to your style.

Number four, instead of typing, consider picking up the phone.

5. Summarize verbal conversations and emails to confirm mutual understanding.

Number six, share bad news, mistakes, worries, and problems with the right people and do so with

urgency. Number seven, show patience and understanding with people who come to you with bad news,

with mistakes, worries, and problems. Otherwise, they'll hide those things from you. Number eight,

never multitask in meetings or conversations. And if you must handle something, ask for a pause to do so. Number nine, assume positive

intent when somebody does something that bothers you, as they're likely not doing what they did

to bother you on purpose. And number 10, resolve conflicts as quickly as you can once you are

emotionally in control enough to do so.

Don't let your issues with anyone fester.
