I want to read to you an excerpt from a newsletter that I got and it's talking about Steve Martin.

And here it is, quote, despite a lack of natural ability, Steve Martin writes in

Born Standing Up, he would go on to put together one of the most decorated careers in the

history of entertainment. He has five Grammy Awards, an Emmy, multiple Lifetime Achievement Awards,

and an honorary Oscar, and on and on and on.

Once during a talk, someone in the audience asked him how to become successful.

And he says this, quote, you have to be undeniably good at something.

Nobody ever takes my advice because it's not the answer they want to hear.

What they want to hear is, here's how you get an agent,

here's how you write a script, here's how you do this, here's how you do that, close quote.

What they want to hear is that the relatively easy things are the relatively valuable things.

That there's a straightforward formula to follow or a checklist to check off. That's,

that there's a way to bypass the pains of relentless repetition. And this is how he closes, quote,

but I always say, be so good they can't ignore you. If you are just always thinking, how can I be really good, people will come to you,

close quote. I love this because a lot of times we look for hacks, the simple, easy way to

approach a certain thing or to get to a certain place where people we admire are. And the reality is

they are undeniably good at what they do.

And so my question to you is, what can you do? What do you need to do to become undeniably good

at what you do? And a lot of times, most of the time, it's embracing the pain of relentless repetition, the boredom of consistency

day in and day out, that obsession to become better, the obsession for growth, where you experience

this autotelic, where the goal is autotelic, where doing the thing itself is the goal itself. It's not what comes
