0:09.7

Sydney. Happy Friday. Happy last Friday of May. Happy last episode of May. Last episode of Heartbreak

0:17.7

horror. We got through it, guys. We lived. We may have shed a few tears,

0:21.7

but we made it. We're here. And today, by popular demand, we're covering Pan's Labyrinth,

0:28.6

which I watched for the first time for this episode. And I think my life is better. I think it's

0:36.5

worse, but better. I think it's worse because, yes, it is devastating, but I think my life is better. I think it's worse, but better. I think it like, it's worse because, yes, it is

0:40.3

devastating, but I think it also has a kind of a weirdly happy ending. Like, it's kind of a positive

0:45.4

ending at the same time. Absolutely devastating. Absolutely beautiful. Absolutely incredible. I

0:51.8

finally understand why people talk about this movie all the time and why it's so highly regarded. I can't believe I didn't watch it sooner. I kick myself in the ass for that. Honestly, what a beautiful, incredible, wonderful movie created by a wonderful, incredible, beautiful, lovely man, aka Guillermo del Toro, who wrote and directed this movie. And before we start

1:12.4

talking about the movie, I want to give a little background of what he went through to get

1:18.4

this movie made and just how passionate he was about it, because it just, I've always respected

1:23.1

him as a filmmaker, but learning all of this just made me love him and respect him even more.

1:28.5

And he's just, he's, he's, he's one of those directors that I feel like is like David Lynch.

1:33.5

Like he like transcends human existence. Like his mind is just so creative and just so out there.

1:39.3

And I feel like sees a plane of existence that we can't. And that's where he kind of, like, gets his ideas from.

1:45.7

I don't know. That might sound weird, but heremito Toro. This movie came out in 2006,

1:51.4

Pan's Labyrinth, and he started writing the movie and started getting ideas from the movie in

1:56.3

1993. So it took him 13 years to actually see his ideas be recognized, which the patience in that

2:03.8

alone is incredible. But I also really admire that because it's like he didn't rush to make this.

2:09.1

Like he knew he had something special and he really took his time with it. So he started writing

2:14.1

ideas for this movie in 1993, 13 years before it ever came out.
