Summary

Welcome back to the Stephen Kingcast! In this episode, I tackle the camptastic 80s legend: Maximum Overdrive.  Please note that this episode originally aired on October 12, 2017th but has been re-edited with fresh audio segments and re-ordered to be kept with the rest of the rest of the reviews springing out of King's short story collection, Night Shift. Because the episode originally aired in 2017, I discuss movie Talisman news, the trailer for Castle Rock, and Dark Tower news.  As always, write in at stephenkingcast@yahoo.com Follow me on Instagram, Tik Tok, Facebook and Bluesky. 1:00.1

which, again, was almost a decade ago.

1:03.1

So it's fun to live in that space, but I just want everyone to be aware that if I'm talking

1:08.5

about Josh Boone writing the talisman for Amblin

1:11.3

entertainment, that was me almost a decade ago talking about that possibility. This is not coming

1:17.4

from 2006. But the review of maximum overdrive is timeless. So please enjoy that, everyone.

1:30.3

So what we're going to talk about today is the adaptation of Stephen King's, is an adaptation of one of Stephen King's stories from his first collection, Night Shift.

1:42.3

This is an adaptation of one particular short story, an infamous adaptation, if you will,

1:51.3

one that I had decided on the first go-around not to touch.

1:55.0

But after some people have asked me to do it, I decided, hey, what harm is it in reviewing maximum overdrive?

2:03.6

And I have a lot of thoughts on maximum overdrive, so bear with me.

2:07.6

But before I get there, there's a lot to talk about actually in the world of Stephen King right now.

2:14.6

As I'm recording this, it is Friday the 13th Eve, aka Thursday, Friday

2:22.2

the 12th of October. So just the fact that we're getting a Friday the 13th in October is pretty

2:27.4

awesome. In the world of Jonathan Mayberry, who wrote the Pine Deep trilogy that I reviewed this time
