Near the northern border of Ukraine is the city of Pripyat. This city was

established in early 1970 with the sole purpose of housing the families of the

employees of the Chernobyl nuclear station, which is situated less than two miles away from the city.

A nuclear station is a power station that uses heat from a nuclear reactor to generate steam to drive a turbine that is connected to a generator which in turns produces electricity.
