Today in the show, I am very excited to share my conversation with author Caro de Robertoz.

Caro is a novelist. They're a translator. And most importantly, for our purposes, they have a new book coming out next month. It's called So Many Stars. And it's an oral history of transgender, queer, non-binary, and two-spirit elders of color.

In this episode, we talk a bunch about Caro's personal gender revolutions and their relationship to gender in English and in Spanish. There's a way that we speak our own gender into being,

just talking about ourselves, which is different from English and English pronouns. There's things

that we request of others in

their language about us. Then, of course, we talk a bunch about the book and the way that the

elders interviewed in the book relate to their own gender and to drag and the future, as well as

their experiences with the AIDS crisis and, you know, like various high-stakes situations they've experienced.

You know, some people did it, and some people said I'd rather die.

We also talk about Cartero's experience with dictatorships because, like, you know.
