0:48.3	On February 26th, officials with the Texas Department of State Health Services announced the first fatality in a growing measles outbreak in the western part of the state.
0:58.0	The death was in a school-aged child who was not vaccinated.
1:01.5	It was the first death from measles in the United States since 2015 and the first pediatric U.S. measles death since 2003.
1:09.9	The measles outbreak in Texas, which now totals 159 cases, cannot be discussed without
1:15.9	noting that most of the cases have occurred in children who have not received the vaccine
1:19.9	or whose vaccination status is not known.
1:22.8	And it's occurring with Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a longtime critic of the measles vaccine
1:27.4	and other vaccines, now at the helm of the measles vaccine and other vaccines,
1:28.8	now at the helm of the Department of Health and Human Services.
1:32.3	In related news, two previously scheduled meetings of federal vaccine advisory committees
1:37.6	were either canceled or postponed last week, leaving many to wonder what lies ahead for these
1:42.9	committees under Kennedy.
1:50.3	Will these committees of vaccine experts be sidelined, scrapped altogether, or will Kennedy replace some of the members with people who reflect some of his anti-vaccine views?
1:55.1	Is this all a harbinger of things to come?
