Hello and we've got what I think is a really interesting different show for you

today it's just going to be me. But what I did is I sent a

survey around to Aniseia program directors across the country and I got about

15 to 20 responses from program directors and what I asked them were two questions.

First, what makes a great resident great?

What qualities make you say that is one of my best residents?

And then the second question is, what are red flags that make you worry that a resident

might struggle?

What qualities make you say, that's one of my most difficult

residents.

And I'm going to go through these in summary and I hope that what this will do is serve for folks, both medical students who are going to be entering residency in anesthesiology, to think about, you know, what do I want to do?

And the reason that I want to do and the reason that I I decided to do this is I get this

question a lot I get medical students both here at Hopkins and across the country

asking this question I get applicants during interview season asking this question. They say, you know, what would if I come to your program what will make me successful?

What or they might phrase it, what makes me make me

someone who might be a chief resident or what makes someone be one of your best residents

and on the flip side you know what what are things to avoid? People want to know. I'm going to be there. I don't want to be labeled as a problem resident or a difficult resident. What should I avoid doing?

And I think this is just advice that people don't get very often. Nobody says to you, hey, here's the top five things to make sure you don't do when you start your residency.
