Summary
Choosing to be a servant-mother means willingly giving up myself, my expectations, and my time to the task of mothering—and choosing to believe that doing so is the best use of my time at that moment. It means that, by faith, have already made a decision to make myself available in the routine tasks and myriad interruptions of daily life because I believe it is God's will for me to serve my family through them. Making this choice ahead of time means I will expect problems and needs to arise and be ready to deal with them in peace instead of impatience and resentment.

| 0:37.5 | Hi everyone, it's Sally Clarkson again and tonight, actually today or whenever you're |
| 0:43.6 | listening to it, I'm going to be talking about chapter 4 in my book The Mission of |
| 0:48.6 | Motherhood. And we've kind of gone through the beginning part that is some |
| 0:53.8 | important if you understand how important children and family in motherhood and even |
| 1:00.4 | the fulfillment of our roles is to Christ and then you understand his design for family |
| 1:05.8 | and for mothers to be life giver, civilizers, trainers. There are many things women can |
| 1:11.3 | do and we're living in an era of a time when women can accomplish and have more positions |
| 1:18.1 | than they've ever had. But essentially, I think that women are kind of created to be caretakers, |
| 1:24.7 | life givers, to all human beings to help establish humane relationships and to have lofty |
| 1:34.7 | thoughts and ideals and to be civilizers and so on. So anyway, we talked about that and |
| 1:40.3 | we talked about how in order for us to build a life, we have to make choices around the |
| 1:49.5 | priorities that we believe Christ wants us to have. And so if we believe he is going to |
| 1:55.6 | ask us to be responsible for the stewardship of how we took care of, trained, loved, passed |
| 2:01.6 | on the baton of righteousness to our children so that they could take truth and goodness |
| 2:06.2 | and beauty and the love of God into their generation, then we have to live our lives differently |
| 2:12.3 | than if we thought that all choices were equal. In other words, there is a component of us |
| 2:21.4 | understanding that in being biblical servants of God, we serve him by serving the children that he |
| 2:31.0 | placed into our hands by serving our husband, by serving our family, the people that God has put |
