Today is the beginning of our coverage of Dean Andrews,

the colorful, jive-talking New Orleans attorney that is played by John Candy in the movie JFK.

If there ever was a movie character that looked almost identical in the movie to the person they were playing in real life,

it would have to be John Candy playing Dean Andrews.

Go out to the web and see pictures side by side of the two of them, and it's absolutely amazing how well Candy portrays Andrews in the movie. A heavy set kind of jolly guy, Andrews talks in

rhythmic and classic Cajun style with his eyes hiding mysteriously behind a set of dark sunglasses, even when he's

inside, covered in shade. And always keeping the audience in a constant state of linguistic analysis

that has everyone wondering what was just said, and more importantly, wondering what he meant by what he just said.

Oh, yeah, I love the onion.

Listening to Andrews is entertaining as all get out, and it makes the interpretation of cryptic speech an absolute requirement when listening to Dean Andrews.

Dean Andrews is an important part of what I have referred to in past episodes in the Garrison

investigation series as the slog.

If you're a pro-Garison writer, then Dean Andrews was someone who received a telephone call

on the day after the assassination by a man he clearly

knew and could identify, a man that went by the alias name of Claybertran. And Andrews was asked

by this Clay Bear Tran to represent Lee Harvey Oswald in the case against him for murdering President Kennedy.

And in this version of the narrative, Andrews clearly knows that this Claybear trend is really

Clay Shaw. And as a good citizen, Andrews moved quickly to alert the authorities about this
