I'm your host, Lindsay, and I'm really excited to be interviewing two authors and historians who have been doing work

in the field of Mormon fundamentalism and the history of polygamy for a long time. Craig L. Foster

and Marian T. Watson. Can you say hello? Hi. Hello. Okay, so why don't you, before we get into

your book and talk about your latest research,

why don't we talk about who you are?

Marianne, can you first sort of introduce yourself and tell us who you are?

Yes, I am sixth generation Mormon.

The last four generations are fundamentalist Mormons.

And so I have a broad history in my lines of knowing about Mormonism and about fundamentalist

Mormonism.

I have a degree in history from the University of Utah, and I have worked for a number of years as a freelance

genealogist, and I have compiled a number of family history books, as well as doing

fundamentalist history articles and papers. And you're really connected with a lot of the different

plural communities. You're a friend with a lot of the different plural communities.

You're a friend to a lot of different folks on the wide Mormon diaspora. Is that fair to say?

Yes, that's fair to say. And Craig, how do you position in all of this?

Well, I am, I'm an active Latter-day Saint.

I have a bachelor's and a master's in history.

And I have done research over the years on various topics dealing with Mormon history.

But I would say the past 10 years plus, you know, I've really focused on plural marriage. My good friend Newell Bringhurst and I co-edited the three volume, The Persistence

of Polygamy series. And in each of the volumes, we wrote essays as well as edited
