Summary

Ed Bieber, A.K.A. Ed the Diver, is cleaning up bodies of water across the Midwest one dive at a time. You may recognize him from his videos online, where he dives into lakes and rivers and retrieves anything from sunglasses, to car batteries, to engagement rings. He and Charlie bond over their love for fishing and their disdain for losing tackle when it gets caught on something in the water. Ed explains how he started his underwater recovery business, some of the craziest items he’s found along the way, and he shows Charlie his museum of lost items.

Folks, welcome to the Krebscast. Today, my guest is Ed the diver. I've been a big fan of

0:18.9

Ed the diver since I first saw his stuff. He basically scuba dives around Wisconsin legs,

0:27.0

Midwest legs, and he cleans them up. He finds fishing lures, cell phones, plastic,

0:33.5

anchors, whatever. He gets them out of our waterways and then the lures, he resels,

0:40.0

the bottles and whatnot. He collects the plastic and the cans, he recycles. He's just a great guy

0:46.9

and what I love about him is he's showing sort of the problem, I guess, with a lot of what we're

0:55.9

doing, as far as pollution goes, but also the solution. And it's easy for anybody to do. We don't

1:03.8

necessarily need to wait for other people to do it for us or the government to do it for us,

1:10.0

or that's all nice stuff to have. But in today, what can we do today? We can just clean up

1:17.0

our own and hope that everybody's little bit goes a long way. So I'm very excited to talk with

1:22.4

at the diver. We had a great conversation and I think you guys will enjoy it. But before we get

1:27.6

to that, joined in the studio by Colleen Coco Maraca, ladies and gentlemen. Hello.

1:34.2

Exactly a producer of the Krebscast. How you been? I've been good. How about you? Good.

1:39.2

You just went somewhere you went to Canada. I did. And it was it was really great. There was tons

1:43.9

of elk. Yeah, you see a bunch of elk. A lot of elk. I have a really funny video. I want to

1:49.3

show you a bit elk sneezing. It was like on the side of the road. And it just kept on like

1:54.8

sneezing. And then like you literally and you could see because it was kind of cold. So you could

1:59.4

see like the puff of. Did you get the sound effect? Yes. I want to see that. I want to see that now.

2:06.0

Yeah. Don't hold it out on us. Well, I didn't know. But yeah, bring that up. Bring the audio

2:11.0

up so that the audience can hear you know, for the video, let's put it on. Should I put it on?
