Summary

Entrepreneur and founder of Funky Fresh Spring Rolls, TrueMan McGee, is always looking for the silver lining in life by turning obstacles into opportunity. In this episode of the Cripescast, he explains his motto of “collecting pennies” as the process of picking up big and small lessons throughout life, and why failure is necessary for success. From starting his business with money from his son’s piggy bank, to having his spring rolls available in 150 stores across the state today, TrueMan stresses the importance of believing in yourself and visualizing your goals. He and Charlie talk about the art of airfrying, they workshop TrueMan’s stand up material, and brainstorm ideas for a future joint business venture of bloody mary flavored spring rolls.

things to eat over in Milwaukee. Milwaukee's north side. That's where I first found them and now

0:45.6

they're in grocery stores around the country or around the state, rather. And yeah, it's really

0:54.6

good. I can't recommend enough if you get them, but I wanted to bring Truman on because

1:00.3

you know, I just I loved his product for a long time. By the way, these are amazing to put in

1:05.2

bloody marries. Okay, I'll say that right off the top. Just get that out the way. If you have,

1:10.0

you're into bloody marries, go with a pigly wiggly festival, woodmins, whatever, find yourself some

1:15.6

funky fresh spring rolls, put them in your bloodies. You can thank me later. Okay, but I want to

1:22.0

bring Truman on because you know, we got to know each other just like I think over Instagram. We

1:26.8

were just talking and then we jumped on the phone and we're chit-chatting some more and

1:32.3

1:38.3

where you know, he was working construction. They had to move back home with his folks, but then

1:47.6

and then training and then he developed this spring roll just as a healthy thing to eat high

1:56.4

and protein, fresh ingredients, this and that and then before he knew he started selling those,

2:01.2

that became the business. It went from being a trainer to that being in the business and

2:06.2

he's been doing it ever since and so I just really enjoy hearing how entrepreneurs kind of take

2:14.8

the nose in their life and turn those into yeses and Truman's a perfect example of that. So
