Oh God it was like a horrible vision of the future of being an old hag and, you know, being obsessed with beauty. Oh, God.

We're here to talk to you today about something that we've actually talked about since the beginning of this podcast between Andrea and myself, which was witches.

We'd always kind of wanted to do an episode about witches. We'd always kind of wanted to do an episode about witches really since December 2012,

figuring out how we wanted to talk about them, what films to talk about them, and how to really

attack the whole idea of witches because they're such an

omnipresence in horror culture. I mean if you think about Halloween if you go to like

a dollar store near you there's so much witch iconography, and it doesn't really have a basis in anything

except to be, you know, it's witch and it's scary and you all identify with it.

So the idea of examining which is in film proper was something that I think we both thought was very interesting and I think actually kind of necessary to the discussion of them.

That's right and even though we're not a feminist podcast per se we kind of are a feminist horror podcast and so the

witchcraft episode has been something we've been toying with for a long time

so we're really excited to finally get into it.

Now what we've decided to do, there are so many great movies out there on

which is so so many. We had to limit it to three. We want to keep these

episodes down to between an hour and an hour and a half long so we chose three movies and we're going to start in 1996 with Andrew Fleming's film The craft.

To the other kids at St. Bernard Academy, they were the girls who didn't belong.

Whatever you do stay away from them.

Why?

They're witches.
