I'm Matthew and I'm Molly and this is spilled milk the show where we cook something delicious, eat it all, and you can't have any.

Today, we are talking about sour cherries.

And I'm so glad we've finally gotten onto a topic where the name is in no way suggestive of anything, and so we're not going to get into that FCC trap

Definitely not we're definitely not going to talk about the warrant song Cherry Pie or anything like that

Definitely not no I forgot that song even existed and thanks a whole lot for bringing it back into my psyche.

So we have a bowl of raw sour cherries here. We're gonna we do some things with them, but we also want to just

taste them plain. And before we do that, we should talk about what a sour cherry is because I hadn't

even met one until a few years ago.

And to be honest, I really, I think I didn't really know that they were

anything different from sort of the regular maybe bing or rainier cherries.

Oh they're different. And today is going to be my first time tasting one. Oh wow. Yep we're gonna. I'm not going to go there.

Yeah, let's continue. Okay. So Matthew, there are sweet cherries and that's what most of us know.

And then there are sour cherries what what's the difference I mean

you can you use them the same way do they look the same they don't look the same

they're not used in the same way they're like they're like a whole different animal

they uh... sour cherries are the kind that you find in a can of cherry pie filling.

You know, you can't get more down market than that.

And yet if you find them fresh,

they're going to be really expensive rare perishable you know a special treat

wow and you are you supposed to cook them since you know since they we think of them as

maybe pie cherries they are usually cooked I mean they are the classic cherry pie

cherry but they're really awesome uncooked too. They're really sour if you want to
