1:08.1	Today's episode is episode 146 in its part four of our Bay of Pigs series.
1:15.4	We're now pivoting to the story of the invasion itself, an epic event that changed the trajectory
1:21.8	of Cuba, and it changed the course of geopolitical politics around the world.
1:28.2	You know, a few episodes back, I talked about life being a game of inches.
1:33.7	Nowhere is that more evident than in the middle of an armed conflict.
1:38.3	When you're in one, life really is a game of inches.
1:43.3	So, without further ado, let's listen to episode 146 of JFK, The Enduring Secret. President Kennedy had not given his final approval,
2:22.3	but the logistics of the Bay of Pigs mission had to move forward.
2:27.0	And at this point, there were still a lot of moving parts.
2:31.4	So on March 28, two of the mission ships, one named the blogger and the second
2:36.7	named the Barbara J, pulled anchor and left key west. They were headed to Puerto Cabezas,
2:43.8	which is a port city in Nicaragua and a favorable launch location for the mission. They would sail
2:50.3	south around the western end of Cuba and head to Puerto Cabezas.
2:56.1	Located there was the CIA mission staging location in a runway, all known as Happy Valley.
3:03.7	Remember, the mission had to be launched from somewhere other than United States soil as part of the overall concept of plausible deniability.
3:13.8	There were, of course, all the legal reasons for this, too.
