This is the after show for Localized with my interview with Alex Burnett and Brendan McCarthy.

You know, the true story of The Doctor, who's the main character in the localized pilot,

the real person that the character is based on is so wild.

It's actually wilder even than the character in the pilot, who's a pretty wild character.

Alex talks about his personal connection to this from having lived on Nantucket,

and they talk about how much persistence it took to get this thing sold.

And these guys didn't have a ton of experience.

They'd both only written on Grace and Frankie when they sold this show.

And they were paired with Mitch Hurwitz, probably best known as the creator of arrested development.

Alex and Brendan talk about all that they learned from working with Mitch and what that process was like

and just what the process was like of taking this nonfiction book by Pam Bellick

and turning it into this incredibly funny and charming show.
