My name is Luke Burbank, I am your host, today is the 4th of July, hope you're out there

enjoying yourself, staying relatively safe, but not being a total whist about fireworks

because let's be honest, most of us still have all of our fingers and toes.

Even though we had childhoods where we were allowed to light off black cats and throw

smoke bombs and the like.

Today's show is part two of our front porch recording we did with our friend Alex from

the band Cumulus, we had some listeners here, we had a black lab named Jackson, we had so

much fun, and when we left off, we were in the midst of reading some of your emails.

There's been a lot of talk about the song of the summer and the fact that we have kind

of really dropped the ball on this washi, you haven't let people down, we've lost the

enthusiasm a little bit this year, and listener Grace in New York says, I'll go ahead and

say it, that goddamn Polish song, Alex hold on, hold on, hold your horses, that GD Polish

song ruined the whole franchise for me forever, I can't take it seriously, and this is

anyway the song of every summer, you really got a hold on me by Smokey Robinson in the

Miracle. Oh yeah, that's a contender this year. Yeah, right, so what happened last year

was we've been, we do this thing out, if you're not familiar, we do this song of the summer

kind of contest, I don't know, survey every year, and last year, and every year it's just,

it's this real dilemma between the song we like the most, and then the song that we really

think is just going to be the most popular song in America, the song you're going to hear

at every party, it's going to be bumping out of every car that pulls up next to the stoplight,
