And it's me, Sydney happy wednesday happy october is everybody having the best time ever because i am i love this month i've watched so many horror movies you know what the funniest thing is though october is probably the month where i watch the least amount of new movies because i just rewatch all of the classics like it's Halloween time. I feel like that's what I have to do. So I really haven't watched anything new. I've just been watching everything that's on TV that's playing. Like this is my dream. Like this is what I want it to be like year round. Like I turn on the TV and there's like five different channels playing horror movies and I have to pick which one I want to watch. It's great. It's amazing. It's my dream. Today we're talking about a

Today we're talking about a movie that actually started as a television program.

This was a TV movie and it fooled millions of people.

And I think that's why it still remembered today is because how incredible the effect of it was

because people genuinely believed that this was real. Like this movie was Blair Witch

before Blair Witch was Blair Witch. Like Ghost Watch walked so Blair Witch could run. And it's reported

that the creators of Blair Witch actually watched this movie and that might have been partially

what inspired them to go the route that they did with Blair Witch in terms of like the

horror mockumentary. Now, the movie we're talking about today, Ghost Watch, this was never

initially intended to be deceptive and like trick viewers into thinking it was real. It was

originally supposed to just be a drama.

Like they didn't even call it a horror movie. It was billed as a drama. But the whole point of the

movie is it's happening during a BBC broadcast. So people turned this on. And apparently there had been

a late program or like a program before it that had finished late because Ghostwatch opens with a title card that

says written by and the writer, his name is Stephen Volk, but it says like written by Stephen Volk.

And because the program before it finished late, people didn't see that. So they didn't see that it was

like written for something. They thought it was a genuine broadcast and what ensued was absolute fucking chaos.

Because people thought this was real. People thought they were watching this live and this was a

real thing. And it is very convincing, honestly. The way that it's made, it's very convincing. And it got

to the point where the BBC switchboard received over a million calls that night of the broadcasts, like with questions
