When we left off last time, the English privateers in the Atlantic were busy repairing their prize, the Madre

Day de Use. They were getting her ready as quickly as possible. By morning they had her

sea-worthy, which was none too soon. As the sun rose, they saw Flotilla of Spanish warships headed in their direction.

Had Madre Adieu spin on her own, they would have been caught almost immediately.

However, they were lucky enough to have six private here vessels serving as escort.

Those were lighter and faster than the Spanish ships,

and whenever one of the Spanish vessels got too close,

an English ship could fall back and engage and give the caric time to pull ahead and then reconnoiter with her.

As they left Spanish waters and entered English waters, the Spanish ships fell back.

They were at war with England and it would be too dangerous to continue the pursuit, so Madre de

deus made it safely back to England.
