To get started, I'm going to give some comments.

I'm Daniel Erndilger. I'm going to be talking about

sort of the context of Apple's offerings for pro users and what's

changed in the last 33 years of the Macintosh and particularly the last few years.

And Victor Marks is going to be talking about some of the software stuff for pro users

and then we'll open it up to some conversation and I want to thank you for

attending.

So we think of computing is just sort of a linear progression of advancement.

This slide of the representative computers from every five years it just gets a little bit better.

That's not really a realistic depiction of what's happening in the industry.

Apple keeps changing in every company in response to new technology that's coming up and

the demand from consumers which changes. One of the most obvious things happened in

1984 with when Apple came out with a Macintosh and it was a different

sort of a branch in technology in terms of the approach to computing.

So instead of a text box that you're typing into like the

DOS PC, Macintosh introduced this idea of graphical computing to the mainstream that was, up until that point it was sort of a
