I'm your host Lindsay, and today I'm interviewing someone who is part of our four-part series

where we're talking about growing up in the FLDS church and being sent away, which is

in Mormon language, sort of another form of excommunication, only a little bit different.

So we're going to get, we're going to talk about this today. Today I'm meeting with Lawrence

Barlow. Lawrence, can you say hello? Hello, Lungie. Thank you for having me on.

Okay, so we're just going to jump into Lawrence's story. He is going to tell us where he grew up

and sort of how he ends up being a faithful member of the FLDS and being sent away.

So I was born and raised in the Hill Del Car City area. I spent most of my time growing up in that area,

volunteering in public safety and in the community functions.

I've had a variety of occupations and work

that has taken me across the country.

In my last 20 years or so, I had quite a bit of involvement with law enforcement,

with the public safety and the social services.

I spent almost 10, 10 plus years sitting on the safety net committee as one of the only FLDS that were willing to

come to the table on that.

Created a lot of friendships and relationships with those who were willing to come to the table

and have discussion on that.

Okay, so I'm interested in your involvement in law enforcement when you talk about that.

There's a lot of rumors and stereotypes and misconceptions about FLDS law enforcement.

Will you tell us about your involvement and what your role was and sort of how the system is set up down there?

I was only a volunteer.
