Welcome everybody to Crystal Kyle and friends today we're going to be talking to Corey Robin

who wrote a book on the history of the right and he's also been well versed in the immense

corruption of the Supreme Court there's of course the Clarence Thomas story about how

he's basically he basically has a sugar daddy billionaire and then you have now there's

new one involving Neil Gorsuch I don't know if you saw this one but yeah very corrupt.

John Roberts blocking any sort of scrutiny or accountability but yeah he wrote a whole book

about Clarence Thomas which I heard him talking to Brianna about which was really fascinating

about how he came up as a sort of militant black nationalist and how some of those views

still inform and shape his jurisprudence today which is something I did not know so that's

very interesting different way of looking at the man well you know it's actually real life

horseshoe theory black nationalists and white nationalists yeah because Malcolm X pre him going

to mecca and having like a change of heart but he used to say we're not in favor of segregation

we're in favor of separation he would say segregation is something that's enforced by superiors on

inferiors separation is something that's mutually agreed upon by equals yeah and so they would art

he would literally argue for like segregation but give it a new name you know what I mean and that's

what black nationalists oftentimes believe yeah so I think it's important I mean this is obviously

an incredibly powerful man to try to have some better insight into how he arrives at the positions

that he arrives at and Cory even argues that you know his like corruption is sort of ideological

like he doesn't see it as corruption he just sees this as like sort of realism about the way

that politics works so I'm not excuse I'm just saying no I know I know interesting to understand

where how he may be viewing these things but honestly that's like almost everybody in DC

things like what do you mean this is just how it works how things are how this is the way it works
