Like how do you handle that? And that is a legitimate, valid question.

It is. And my son has had issues with that for sure. And again, I don't think there's one right answer for every parent. And one of the things that my son and I've talked through as we've had conversations about this is I've said to him if all the

allies leave what about the queer kids in the pews at church?

Is there what if there's not a Becky Edwards or Cynthia in their ward who comes to church with a rainbow pin and who will say something in defense of being an advocate and ally if someone says something that's harming to our queer

siblings and I thought of several kids who my ward and my love who some have already stepped away because church is harming them and

that makes me sad they're beautiful souls and I love them but I thought of them

and I thought of how much I could have used to Becky Edwards before my son came out to me to help me be a bit more ready, more open, more educated, more of an ally before I needed to be an ally in, you know,

being forced to as a mom, not forced, but, you know, having the opportunity right there in my face.

That's what I could have used, I could have used some of me back then. And after I said that comment, somebody in the back raised their hand. And it was a missionary, a returned missionary who had been, she said I've been home two weeks.
