0:12.0	Finkelstein. Yep. He has a new book out. Excited to talk to him about that and all things
0:16.4	left. Identity politics, cancel culture should be a spicy one. Got you. So before we get into that,
0:22.9	though, there's a couple things we wanted to touch on. So there was just, I mean, this is some
0:27.6	pretty big news if you think about it, because for the longest time, this was like the ultimate taboo
0:32.8	in political circles, like elite political circles. Uh, so now we have a whole bunch of
0:38.3	Congress people signed a letter calling for the release of Julian Assange. So I believe it was
0:46.2	Rashida Talib who led the charge on this. Yep. She tweeted four years ago today, Julian Assange
0:51.0	was arrested for publishing the truth on leading a leading a letter to attorney general Garland,
0:56.4	urging him to uphold the freedom of the press by dropping these Trump era charges and with
1:00.9	drawing the extra edition request. And, um, I'm taking a look here. So we have Rashida Talib,
1:07.0	Cory Bush, uh, Greg Cesar, Jamal Bowman and AOC. They signed it. If I'm not mistaken, I think
1:15.5	maybe more have hopped on after the fact. I'm not 100% sure on that, but we have at least some
1:21.3	people in Congress actually doing the right thing on this front and leading the charge just to
1:25.5	read you a little bit of the letter. Um, so it's to the honorable, uh, Merrick Garland,
1:30.4	dear attorney general, Merrick Garland, we write you to hold on. Let me make this a little bit
1:34.8	bigger because I'm apparently 97 years old and I can't read your, your eyes aren't way. Yeah,
1:39.4	really. No kidding. My eyes were like 400 years old. Uh, this didn't help. By the way, we
1:44.5	write you today. That we're going to do. We write, we write you today to call on you to uphold
1:52.4	the first amendments protections for the freedom of the press by dropping the criminal charges
1:55.8	against Australian publisher Julian Assange and withdrawing the American extradition request,
2:00.8	currently pending with the British government, press freedom, civil liberty and human rights
