this is the podcast where we talk to people for and or from the Midwest my guess

this week is Commander Jason Johns of the Wisconsin VFW. He is a Purple Heart recipient. He's an attorney who works with a lot of veterans as well. Helps them get their benefits and a whole school of other things. And also he's just a great dude to talk to when it comes to how

non-military people or civilians interact with those who have served veterans those currently serving

he gave real good insight on you know the questions to ask the questions not to ask and

I think that'll be really interesting because here's what I think happens and maybe I'm wrong, but I think there are a lot of people out there who don't know

How to approach a veteran who has served.

I mean, you want to show your gratitude,

but you don't want to be condescending or flippant.

And so there's not necessarily that knowledge of how to approach the conversation of, you know, do I say thank you for your service or is that now what they want me to say?

And Jason does a great job but breaking this down.

And then, you know, as you listen to him,

you gain a lot of insight on what life is like

for those currently serving and those who have returned.

And I think the more knowledge you have on this issue

just helps you kind of get more interested

in veterans issues as you read them in the paper.

And the more knowledge we all have collectively know the more knowledge we all have collectively
