we're broadcasting live from the Christian Hote Couture Fashion House discussing the 1964

Gialo Horror Classic, Blood and Black Lace. This film was directed by Mario Bava from a screenplay

by Marcello Fondato with collaboration from Bava and Giuseppe Barilla,

and rewrites by Mary Arden.

Blood and Black Lace is one of the first Gialo films, following Bava's initial forays into the

subgenre years prior.

With highly stylized violence, an impressively indelible color palette, and a mysterious masked

killer, Blood and Black Lace would not only establish conventions for subsequent Italian Gialo films,

but would also prove influential for what would go on to become the American slasher.

So I had never heard of this movie until, you know, you had watched it and then you kind of

were telling us about it. Very, very interesting movie. I like the, I guess I don't really

want to give away too much, but I do like certain things

of this movie.
