Located on one of Xochimilco’s floating gardens outside Mexico City, the island is home to thousands upon thousands of decapitated, dismembered, and decaying baby dolls. Why did the island’s owner start collected and displaying these children’s toys around his home? According to legend, the ghost of a drowned child haunted the man for years, and the only thing that would keep the spirits at bay was the presence of these dolls.
