Welcome back, listeners.

This is Lindsay, your host, talking about the 1843 Revelation, or as LDS, believers know

it, Doctrine and Covenant, Section 132 that still exists in the scriptures today.

Now we're going to travel back to the fateful day of July 12, 1843. The same day, July 12th, 1843,

the Warsaw Signal and anti-Mormon publication, issues, a statement, talking about the arrest of Joseph

Smith in June. They talk about some of the other politics happening in Navu. And meanwhile,

Joseph Smith is in the red brick store, receiving or dictating a revelation from God.

Now, in the upstairs of the red brick store, the downstairs was a store where they would sell dry goods.

Joseph Smith was there with Hiram and William Clayton, his secretary.

Hiram was his brother.

And before that, Joseph had already received other revelations in the Red Brick store.

This is where he organized the Relief Society.

He revealed D&C Section 127 that had to do with the ordinances of the dead.

In February of 1843, he dictates D&C Section 129, which talks about how to discern if a spirit is from God or the devil.

And it would be on this fateful day, this Wednesday in July of 1843, that Joseph Smith would dictate a revelation on plural marriage.

that goes into the entire history of this. I'm going to let William Clayton, Joseph Smith's secretary, bring us in and kind of explain what happens.

Here's what William Clayton says, quote,

On the morning of the 12th of July 1843, Joseph and Hiram Smith came into the office in the upper story of the brick store on the bank of the

Mississippi River. They were talking on the subject of plural marriage. Hiram said to Joseph,

If you write the revelation on celestial marriage, I will take it and read it to Emma, and I believe I can

convince her of its truth, and you will hear after have peace. Joseph smiled and remarked,
