Although people are saying the iPhone launched 10 years ago it did not technically

launch 10 years ago it was announced 10 years ago the iPhone was announced at Macworld

2007 January but did not actually make its way into the hands of consumers

until later in the year in June. June 29th to be precise. So what this means is we

get two iPhone birthdays which I kind of like.

So first of all, why, tell me, why would Apple announce a phone six months

before anyone could actually have it.

The same reason that they announced a tablet three months before anybody could have it

or a watch eight months before anybody could have it because it takes time to bring these things to market to ramp up production.

You don't want to have leaks, you want to have developers have time to, in the case of the first

iPhone, they couldn't create actual apps for it, but they could create web apps for it and

with more recent platforms native apps for those devices so Apple announced the

iPhone in January of 2007 launched it six months later giving developers some time to make

web apps before the App Store existed for the first iPhone.
