Hello everyone, welcome to the Stephen King cast, one man's musings on the works of Stephen King.

Each week I will review one entry in the bibliography of Stephen King and the chronological order of publication,

which brings us to what most fans will point to if they're asked either of the following questions.

What is Stephen King's best book? And what is your favorite Stephen King book?

It's also the answer to the question.

If I were to bludgeon someone to death with a Stephen King book, which one should I use?

You know, I'm going to cut to the chase right now, rather than do my usual buildup,

because I just want to start throwing flowers upon the shrine of this book,

which of course is the post-apocalyptic epic tale of good versus evil,

Stephen King's masterpiece in the eyes of many fans out there.

Of course, the book that I'm talking about is The Stand.

So, this one, guys, I mean, honestly, I don't even know where to begin, to be honest with you.

And during the last few King books, I started getting some anxiety, knowing that each book I put down meant that I was one book closer to the 1990 re-release of the stand.

And why should it cause me anxiety?

Well, I mean, first, clearly the daunting length of the novel is challenging enough.

It's like knowing that I have to scale Mount Everest all over again,

and for what, maybe the fifth time at this point?

I mean, more importantly,

it's challenging knowing that I need to be in my A-game, seeing as how this is King's A-game book,

and it's the blueprint for the modern post-apocalyptic story. As evidenced by anyone that sat down

on Sunday night to watch The Walking Dead, simply put, this novel means so much, so so much to Stephen King fans and the pop culture.
